A full beard is a sight I praise; proper documentation of a full beard is a sight I envy.

This video is from Carlton College student Corey Fauver and his posterity prowess. He’s just sharing the greatness of facial hair growth.

Two Noxious Numbers

The number of deaths of U.S. military personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan this year, according to a Star Tribune letter writer.

It’s easy to forget about the wars — and the Tank can be as guilty as the rest — but we should try and fight those omissions.

The estimated number of undernourished people in the world, according to the World Bank.

That’s about 1 in 6. A shocking number on the dire needs of this planet.

Pile of dizzying noxious numbers

The first noxious number left me so dizzy I thought the second was the result of blurry vision. Both of these numbers, however, are real and stomach-churning — albeit one serious and the other a laugh-out-loud joke.

$20 billion

The cost to taxpayers to cover the annual amount in subsidies for executive compensation.

According to the Institute for Policy Studies, the sum is a variety of tax and accounting loopholes. That $20 billion for America’s most powerful is more than double what the federal government spent last year on educating America’s most vulnerable — children with disabilities.

$6.3 million

The annual amount the Timberwolves will pay Brian Cardinal, an unathletic white-boy who has made 19 shots in 35 games this season.

The eight-year veteran — with 29 career starts —  must have corralled the contract with the Grizzlies and Warriors, where he averaged career highs of about nine points and four rebounds from 2003 to 2005.

I’m fully aware that Cardinal was brought to the Wolves to have him rot on the bench and free up salary cap space later, but how this stiff conned his fat contract in the first place simply shocks me.
